Peggy's husband Andy had surgery yesterday on his knee. They found extensive arthritis in addition to the torn ligaments they were repairing and told him to expect knee replacement surgery in the not too distant future - he is younger than Gary! He's home and healing, but could use prayers for recovery.

I'd appreciate prayers for my younger sister, Cynthi. Her boyfriend has decided to end their relationship and move out (they've been together about 5 years). She was rather shocked by this as she felt they were pretty much done working through their relationsihp issues and were heading toward marriage. On top of this, the house they've been renting is going through foreclosure which they just found out about 2 weeks ago and they will be out of a house in a week or 2. Cynthi is scrambling to find somewhere to live.

Please pray for my sister Brenda. I talked with her last weekend and it sounds like her marriage has fallen apart.

I would like to ask for prayers for Lois Honstead, she is the mother of my college roommate, Karla Brokaw. Lois was diagnosed 2 weeks ago with Lung cancer. She is in the process of discovering the extent of the illness and determining treatment. Initial prognosis was bleak but doctors are more hopeful now. Lois has no other health problems, and has never smoked so the diagnosis came as a shock to the whole family. Pray for Lois and Karla and the family as they deal with this emotional time. I'll update you when I hear more.

Please continue to pray for my friend and fellow musician Jim Rollins. Jim is undergoing inpatient chemotherapy for leukemia at Good Samaritan hospital. His treatment is complicated by a persistent infection in the tonsil area which limits him to a liquid diet. So far the infection has been resistant to a cocktail of three antibiotics. He's had bouts of high fever which were treated with a 6 hour ice bath yesterday. The doctor says that the good news is that at least his body is producing cells to fight the infection.

Gail Paulson passed away early Thursday morning. Please keep her husband, David, and her children, Brian and Cheryl, along with their spouses and children in your prayers.

Some of you may have read in the paper today about a terrible tragedy in Merced on Tuesday, where a father shot and killed three children, and then committed suicide. One of the children was his daughter by his ex-wife, Christine, and the other children were Christine's from a previous marriage. The father and daughter attended the Merced UMC, and Christine attended occasionally as well. The congregation is reeling from the shock and trying to support the children's mother, Christine.

Please pray for Christine, the father of the older children, and the Merced congregation. My parents are members at the Merced UMC; my mother is the office manager there and has been dealing with intense media scrutiny. She could use your prayers too.

I am asking you to hold Jim Rollins in your prayers as he begins treatment for leukemia. Jim is the soft-spoken leader of the brass quintet that I'm a member of which rehearses Tuesday evenings at AHUMC and has played many times over the past several years at church.

For the last few days Brittany has been in the area visiting friends. Over the last week or two she has been having increasingly more frequent serious headaches. Yesterday she also was experiencing double vision and early this morning was admitted to El Camino Hospital. Over the last ten hours she has had a CAT scan and two MRI's and she and her father, Ben, hope to speak with her neurologist within the next hour or two to learn more information about the cause of these conditions. I know that Brittany and her family would appreciate your prayers and thoughts during this time.

I'm writing to ask that you keep Lee MacDonell and her family in your thoughts and prayers. Lee is scheduled to have a hysterectomy at Stanford this Wednesday, December 12 at 7:30 AM. I know that Lee, Joe, and Carson would appreciate your prayers during this time and throughout Lee's recuperation. May the strength, courage, and peace of our mighty God be especially near.

Kraig's brother Kendall and his wife Erin have been blessed with the birth of their third child. Margret Kaiser (Maggie) was born Wednesday the 21st at 11:45pm by C-section. The baby is fine and healthy though a little small (5lb 5oz).

The C-section had complications, and Erin was in surgery for 3 hours. Erin is doing fine now, but still has a lengthly recovery period ahead of her. So please pray for thier family and that her recovery will go well with no further complications.

Doreen will be going into surgery on December 4 to fix her thigh.

Please keep Peggy's brother DonYounkin in your prayers. He had triple bypass surgery yesterday, unexpectedly, and as of this afternoon he had come through the surgery ok but his condition had not stabilized. He is in Pennsylvania.

Eve Clapham was diagnosed with cancer over a year ago. Unfortunately, her family recently learned that the cancer has spread to Eve's brain. Please keep Eve, her daughter Libby Stanton, and her family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Bob Blaney was recently diagnosed with prostate cancer. This seems to be a very early detection. Please pray for Bob as he undergoes various tests over the next several weeks.

Sam Furumasu called this morning, Friday Oct 5, with news that Sadie was taken to Stanford hospital with what is believed to be an aneurysm. She will undergo tests and/or a operation. Please keep Sadie and Sam in your prayers.
